Font Embedding and IEEE explore compatible pdf

To submit a paper or specifically camera ready paper to any conference, font embedding is must. Some IEEE conferences also mandate to make a IEEE pdf express compatible pdf. Here I would like to show one of the way to solve these two problems, which I learnt from internet and tested on a system with windows OS.

 1. Font Embedding:

To check whether fonts have been embedded or not, open pdf file using adobe reader, File/properties/fonts. If all the fonts are labelled with embedded subset then its done.  If there are few fonts without embedded subset (Usually symbol or Helvetica will not be embedded by default, if you are using text in images), then follow the below steps.

Font embedding is an easy task with GSView. GSView depends on Ghost script, so install Ghost script and GSView from the below link.

http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/

After installing both GS view and Ghostscript, follow this link to embed fonts.

2. IEEE pdf express compatible:

Change the settings of GS view in File/convert/properties as given in following pdf file.

https://www.pdf-express.org/GS81-IEEEXplore_config.pdf

Note:  Use the above settings only after embedding the fonts. If fonts are not embedded, pdf express may show PDF-check error.

If it is successful then you would see something like below.

3. Latex error while inserting copyright notice:

If you get the following error while compiling latex then remove the package dblfloatfix. Am not sure of reason.

Error: ! Infinite glue shrinkage found in box being split.
